Plastering & Making Good
Skimming, patch plastering and crack repairs for a perfectly smooth surface to decorate.
A perfect paint finish needs a perfect surface beneath it. As part of a full decorating job — or as a standalone — we skim tired walls and ceilings, patch-plaster after repairs, fill and re-fix cracks, and make good around new fittings. It is the unglamorous groundwork that makes everything afterwards look effortless, and doing it ourselves means the whole job runs smoothly with no waiting on another trade.

Plaster & Prep — your questions answered
Straight answers to the questions we hear most. Still unsure? Give us a call — we are happy to help.
How long does new plaster need before painting?
Fresh plaster needs to dry fully before it is decorated — usually around a week per coat in normal conditions, sometimes longer in winter or on patch repairs. Painting too soon traps moisture and causes problems. We will let it dry properly and apply a suitable mist coat first for a sound, lasting finish.
Can you skim over artex or textured ceilings?
Yes. We can skim tired, textured or artex ceilings and walls glass-smooth, giving you a clean, modern surface ready to decorate. Where the surface is sound we skim over it; where it is not, we make good first. It is a popular way to bring older rooms right up to date.
Do you handle plastering as part of a decorating job?
We do — and it means the whole job runs smoothly with no waiting around for a separate trade. We can skim, patch-plaster, fill and make good as part of a full decorating package, so your walls are sound and smooth before we start painting or papering.
